A novel tool for easy extraction of large foreign objects from the stomach and esophagus
Intentional foreign body ingestion is a surgical challenge. This behavior is most commonly seen in adult patients with psychiatric disorders and often in a repeated pattern. The ingested objects are typically batteries, razor blades and cutlery. The obvious first line treatment is to extract the foreign body surgically as efficiently as possible by gastroscopic access.
Existing tools suited for extraction of large objects from the stomach and esophagus are limited thus complicating the surgical procedure.
KHORAL is a novel tool facilitating fast and simple extraction of large ingested objects. KHORAL will cause less stress for the patients and reduce the need for operating theatres.
